Amythyst Kiah, Chris Shiflett and more are all set to perform at the much-loved Nashville event.
The project is set to be released on June 9.
Performing songs from her latest album Wary + Strange, the Tennessee singer and guitarist’s songs examine the realities of being a Southern Black woman in songs that feel raw and vulnerable but proudly defiant.
The beloved festival — which boasts attendees who show up not just year after year, but decade after decade - underlines what it has grown to encompass since its earlier bluegrass days; you might even venture to call it “traditional plus plus”.
These days, Amythyst Kiah is happy and healthy; fulfilled by a loving relationship, a passel of friends, a Grammy nomination and a new release on Rounder Records. All of this is much like her powerful voice because, really, she's only just getting going.
For Staff Picks, we share with you our favourite new releases that you need to listen to. This week, it's Amythyst Kiah's Wary + Strange - a mesmerizing, frequently hypnotic and always challenging work.
