During her recent performance at the iconic Billy Bob's Texas venue, Lainey Wilson surprised the packed-out crowd with a special appearance from Randy Travis.

Earlier in the set, the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ hitmaker was forced to sing through a megaphone, after lightning impacted her sound equipment. Bizarrely, it's the second time this has happened, with Lainey having delivered an impromptu acoustic set in North Carolina in July due to the effects of a lightning strike.

They say ‘Fame and fortune are as hard to find as a lightning strike’. However, it seems Lainey Wilson is having no trouble in any of these departments, with the ‘Heart Like A Truck’ songsmith continuing to consolidate herself as one of the biggest names in modern country music.

The magnitude of Louisiana native's meteoric ascent was once again highlighted this month, when Lainey Wilson received nine 2023 CMA Awards nominations - more than any other artist.

Her claim to the coveted Entertainer of the Year title will surely have been strengthened by the fact that she is still able to put on an electrifying show, despite lightning removing her sound production and causing her to resort to the use of a megaphone.

As well as treating the Billy Bob's Texas crowd to a slew of stand-outs from her quickly expanding repertoire, while the technical difficulties were being tackled, Lainey led a venue-wide sing-a-long of Keith Whitley's much-loved anthem, ‘When You Say Nothing At All’.

Taking to her socials after the show, Lainey Wilson expressed her gratitude to attendees for sticking with her through the weather-related issues, “It ain’t every night you get to bring out the legend Randy Travis nor sing through a megaphone but we covered both of those last night at Billy Bob's Texas. Thank y’all for your patience while we waited for the power to kick back on…guess ya could say lightning likes us these days”.

Ahead of the show, Lainey Wilson was added to Billy Bob's prestigious Wall of Fame after selling out the renowned Texas venue. The chart-topping singer-songwriter shared how, back in 2013, she'd sold merchandise for another artist at the Fort Worth honky-tonk, “hoping one day I’d be on the stage of the worlds largest honky tonk. Ten years later, we did that and sold it out. Keep on dreamin’, folks”.
