Lainey Wilson was forced to deliver an acoustic performance in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday evening (July 15), after her sound equipment was struck by lightning.
The electrical storm also delayed Luke Combs’ headlining set later that night, with Combs tweeting that the stadium team were doing everything they could to ensure the performance could go ahead.
Combs was ultimately able to take the stage for a blistering show, which kept the energy levels high following Lainey Wilson's stellar, eye-catching acoustic performance.
Lainey Wilson shared a video across her socials taken from her unique North Carolina performance, with fans taking to the comments to commend the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ singer-songwriter for embodying the spirit of ‘the show must go on’.
Rather than letting the rain hamper fans’ experience of the show, Lainey ensured they were able to witness a captivating acoustic set. With the arena-sized production stripped away, it left room to hear the spine-tingling sound of packed-out crowd roaring each lyric back to her.
Now, Lainey Wilson and Luke Combs are travelling up to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, for the next stop on Combs’ world tour. It's set to be another electrifying double-header of shows - but hopefully this time around, it'll be electrifying in one sense only.
