Gavin Adcock - ‘On One’

Release Date: Apr. 25, 2025

Producer: Jay Rodgers

Songwriters: Gavin Adcock, Dan Isbell and Rhett Akins

The Background:

It's no secret that Gavin Adcock has zero problem saying what he's thinking. It's a trait that has revealed itself onstage, online, as well as in unruly songs like 'Run Your Mouth', 'Unlucky Strikes', and now, in his latest single 'On One'.

The brash new tune, about medicating your way through heartbreak, is an apt addition to the unrepentant star's raucous songbook. 'On One', with its rock-heavy arrangement and irresistible chorus, will have listeners wanting to join in Adcock's misery and tie one on alongside him.

The Sound:

While the song kicks off with a languid and swaggering rhythm, by its chorus, 'On One' is a full-throttle rock anthem through and through. Flush with screaming guitar riffs and arena-ready drum licks, the song is Gavin Adcock turned up to 11.

The Meaning:

"My gold digging ex found a Cadillac man
While I was bustin my ass for old Uncle Sam
Gotta fence post dent in the gate of my truck
I wouldn’t have nothing if it wasn’t for bad luck"

'On One' finds Adcock in the thick of heartache, dealing with getting dumped for a wealthier man after having worked himself to the bone. A lot like in his song 'Unlucky Strikes', 'On One' plants the artist in the trenches of life, with the bad luck continually piling up.

So, how is he handling it all? Well ... he's tying on one, or rather, drinking, smoking, and simply medicating his way through a broken heart.

"Locked out all of my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying in one
Yeah I’m fucking on one"

He's ditching his goodwill, setting aside all well-meaning and catching up on the fast times he's missed while in a relationship, all in an effort to get on the other side of this pain.

In the song, he asserts that "I didn’t grab the bottle / Yeah the bottle grabbed me". And until it stops, he'll be "on one," riding out the hurt with the help of a bottle and a toke.

"Yeah
Locked out of all my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying on one
Yeah I’m fuckin on one"

My gold digging ex found a Cadillac man
While I was bustin my ass for old Uncle Sam
Gotta fence post dent in the gate of my truck
I wouldn’t have nothing if it wasn’t for bad luck

Locked out all of my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying in one
Yeah I’m fucking on one

I didn’t grab the bottle
Yeah the bottle grabbed me
I’ll be riding this train
Till the sun starts to creep
Gotta woman of the night hanging onto my hip gotta miller in her hand and a smoke on her lip

Locked out all of my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying in one
Yeah I’m tying on one

I’m drinking on one
I’m smoking on one
I’m fuckin on one
I’m tyin on one

Yeah
Locked out all of my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying in one

Yeah
Locked out of all my good intentions
Bout to dive into the trouble I been missing
Burnt up like the powder from a gun
I’m tying on one
Yeah I’m fuckin on one
