Since bursting onto the scene in April of 2024 with his breakout single, 'Take It Slow,' Hudson Westbrook has placed himself on the precipice of country music stardom.
Boasting nearly 140 million streams in just nine months across his eight or so songs thus far, the Texas talent has been peppering out one bonafide hit after another, including his viral '5 to 9,' somber 'House Again,' rowdy 'Two Way Drive' and more, all appearing on his acclaimed self-titled debut in November 2024.
As the calendar rolls over to a new year, so Westbrook is dropping new music to soundtrack our 2025, starting with the classic-leaning ballad, 'Mine Tomorrow.'
Capturing a neotraditional sound that marries the charms and sounds of giants like Zach Bryan, Wyatt Flores and Parker McCollum, all in equal measure, 'Mine Tomorrow' adds another tally to Westbrook's glistening and growing catalogue.
Revitalizing the organic country-rock of red dirt, the rough-around-the-edges singer-songwriter first picked up a guitar in just 2020, effectively teaching himself how to play while enrolled in high school. In 2023, during his time at Texas Tech, he started playing around with melodies, penning what would be the first of many songs to his name.
Now, co-writing most of his releases thus far, 'Mine Tomorrow' falls in that same lane as he partners with frequent collaborator Dan Alley and Ryan Beaver to bring the slow-rolling love song to life.
Focused largely around a banjo and guitar, the new Westbrook offering is a sweet pledge to his beloved that his heart will always belong to her. It's his most mature and polished vocal performance so far, showing his steady growth towards country music stardom.
“I’ve been fightin' for this feelin'
I been waitin' patiently
For someone to put the brakes on
My leavin' till it left me
Then you showed up, got it done
Now here we are, and I’ll never run”
Our narrator opens up the song by explaining that it feels like he's been waiting all his life for a love like he's currently found. Yearning for this feeling of being seen and loved, yet trying to wait patiently for the right person to come along, and they finally have.
While in the past our narrator has been known to cut and run when things get hard, he's turning over a new leaf and promising to stay in spite of any obstacles they may face.
“As long as you’re mine tomorrow
All my today’s belong to you
As long as you love me girl I’ll follow
Like it was all I was made to do
Till the whole wide world, runs outta time I’ll be fine
Long as you’re mine tomorrow”
Reading almost like a set of wedding vows, our protagonist explains that as long as his partner promises to be here tomorrow, he'll always be here today.
As long as their love remains strong and steady, he'll continue to follow after her and put forth the effort necessary for their relationship as if that's the only reason he was put on this earth in the first place.
The world could stop spinning and time could run out, but he'll always be there, loving her till he has nothing left.
“Yeah, forever was a word
That you’d never hear me say
That was back before forever
Had a name and a pretty face
And a smile that turns any wrong around
Its alright when the sun goes down”
Before he found this woman he's fallen so in love with, forever was just a word that people would say and not one that he would every use.
He used to be a ramblin' man who's rarely content, but now his forever has a name and a face that looks back at him every day, and he can't imagine his life now without her in it.
"As long as you’re mine tomorrow
All my today’s belong to you
As long as you love me girl I’ll follow
Like it was all I was made to do
Till the whole wide world, runs outta time I’ll be fine
Long as you’re mine tomorrow
Tomorrow
Bridges can burn, rivers run dry
Cities could fall, but with you and I"
Thus far, Westbrook hasn't shared much about 'Mine Tomorrow.'
However, this song does mark the first taste of new music since his debut, self-titled EP, meaning that new music is likely on the way in the coming months from the Texas tunesmith.
