The King, George Strait, is playing two shows at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, this weekend (April 24th and 25th). He last played in Lubbock in 2013 at the United Spirit Arena on his Cowboy Rides Away Tour, so West Texas is set for a huge welcome back show.
Classics like ‘Check Yes Or No’, ‘Amarillo By Morning’ and ‘Give It Away’ are pretty certain to be in the setlist, but with a catalogue as vast as Strait’s (we’re talking over 30 studio albums), it seems he tweaks a couple of tracks each night to give an unique experience to his fans. Tracks that have been swapped in and out recently are ‘Three Drinks Behind’, ‘Wrapped’ and ‘Heartland’. The encore is pretty firm, with his signature tracks rounding off the night. And rightly so, because there’s no world in which George Strait closes a show without playing ‘All My Ex’s Live In Texas’.
Early merch will be available on Wednesday 22nd April 2-6.30pm and Thursday 23rd April 2-6.30pm at the Greenspace next to the C-1 parking lot adjacent to Jones AT&T Stadium. Merch will still be available on the days of the concerts beginning at 2pm, available outside Gate 1 and Gate 10, with additional merchandise available inside the stadium once gates open. Texas Tech have also got a limited run of official ‘Strait From Raiderland’ merch which is available in store and online.
Unfortunately, official Jones AT&T Stadium parking is now sold out and won’t be available to purchase on the day, but EverythingLubbock has all of your parking information HERE.
Rideshare pick-up and drop-off is located at Memorial Circle, 2500 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79409. There is also a shuttle service provided by Citibus from 3pm until an hour after the end of the concert. Pickup locations:
- Parking lots north of the John Walker Soccer Complex at Texas Tech Parkway and 10th Street
- West commuter lots off Indiana Ave. and Texas Tech Parkway
- Northwest of the Health Sciences Center at Texas Tech Parkway and 5th Street on Saturday only
Drop-off is on the north side of the stadium near the Gate 3–4 area.
Note: There is a Texas Tech baseball game scheduled for 1pm on each of the concert days, so attendees have been advised to arrive early as traffic will be congested.
Jones AT&T Stadium also employs a clear bag policy for all attendees. More info HERE.
With two near enough sold out shows, there’s no doubt that The King of Country will put on two of the best nights in music for every one of the 60,000 fans in attendance this weekend. Tickets are hard to come by, but keep your eyes out for last minute grabs from official retailers.
