Sadly, all great things come to an end, and it's time for the King of Country Music, George Strait, to perform the final date of his blockbuster run of one-off stadium shows this weekend.
George Strait, who will once again be joined by Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town, will take the stage at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, December 7th 2024. Although times, as always, are variable, Little Big Town usually kick off their set at around 5:45pm, with Stapleton following at roughly 7:30pm. Strait tends to launch into his sprawling set of chart-toppers at between 9 and 9:15pm.
As for the ‘Write This Down’ hitmaker's setlist, you can expect to hear all of the biggest songs, from the rose-tinted ‘Carried Away’ and the playful ’The Chair’ to the defiant ‘Troubadour’ and the heartbreaking ‘I Can Still Make Cheyenne” - and plenty more. However, given the fact that George Strait has accumulated 60 No. 1 hits to date, there are unfortunately a few fan-favourites that have to fall by the wayside.
Nonetheless, the King knows how to put on a stellar live show, with George Strait often teaming up with Chris Stapleton to perform their irresistible 2024 duet, ‘Honky Tonk Hall of Fame’, one of the many stand-outs from Strait's new album, Cowboys and Dreamers.
As is the case for the virtually all US stadiums now, the Allegiant employs a strict bag policy, which can be explored in full here. There are three bag check locations on-site, each of which will set you back $20. If, on the other hand, you want to bring your bag inside the venue, it must either be a clear plastic bag no larger than 12" by 6" by 12", or a small clutch bag no bigger than 4.5" by 6.5" by 2".
When George Strait concluded his now-iconic 2014 The Cowboy Rides Away tour, that show was peppered by star-studded guest appearances and emotional farewells.
Although Strait's 2023 and 2024 stadium run has not been a tour per se, this final concert at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium will nonetheless carry a bittersweet sheen, as fans flock to Sin City to see one of the all-time greats do what he does best.
