Ahead of the release of her hotly anticipated new single, ‘Fox Hunt’, Sierra Ferrell spoke to Holler about how the song came about, as well as touching on the way in which the lively, uptempo anthem has changed since she first performed it.
The new single, which Sierra Ferrell describes as her “ode to hunting”, has become one of the many highlights in the West Virginia native's live setlist throughout the year.
It's been an unreleased fan-favourite for a number of months, with Sierra Ferrell being inundated with calls to give the infectious earworm an official release as soon as possible.
Thankfully, the ‘In Dreams’ singer-songwriter has now obliged, with ‘Fox Hunt’ being made available everywhere today (Thursday, October 19). Sierra Ferrell underlined her excitement to Holler at being able to release ‘Fox Hunt’ at long last.
Ferrell explained how the single version differs slightly from the rendition she's been performing over the past few months, “I’ve been impatiently waiting for our release of ‘Fox Hunt’. It’s evolved a bit from the first time we played it live, but I’ve always felt such a great energy in the song that the crowd is always ready to send back to us”.
Ferrell went on to emphasise how she was keen to ensure the studio release was laced with the electricity that always fizzles through the audience when they play it live, sharing, “I think the recording truly captures that energy”, before adding teasingly, “I mean, if you can't stomp your feet to this one, check your pulse!”.
Now that ‘Fox Hunt’ has been unleashed into the world, fans will be hoping other much-loved songs such as ‘Making My Way’ are released as Sierra Ferrell continues to build momentum ahead of her eagerly awaited sophomore album.
