In the latest instalment of Apple Music's much-loved Nashville Sessions EP series, Zach Top and Billy Strings have teamed up for three new traditional-leaning collaborations.
The two artists’ distinct styles blend seamlessly on the project, with Zach Top's smooth, irresistible twang combining powerfully with Billy Strings’ more rugged, raw vocal delivery. As part of the new Apple Music Nashville Sessions release, Zach and Billy have shared duets of ‘Bad Luck’, ‘Things to Do’ and ‘Don't Cheat in Our Hometown’.
While the latter is a steel-soaked cover of Ricky Skaggs’ 1983 classic, ‘Bad Luck’ and ‘Things to Do’ are two stand-outs from Zach Top's widely lauded debut, Cold Beer and Country Music. The project arrived in April 2024, and serves as a nimbly composed homage to ‘90s country, with the Washington singer-songwriter drawing well-earned comparisons with the likes of Alan Jackson and George Strait.
This new EP brings the respective strengths of Zach Top and Billy Strings to the fore, with the Apple Music exclusive stripping away any heavy production, in order to let the spotlight fall on Zach and Billy's enchanting vocals and captivating guitar playing.
Zach Top continues to cement himself as one of the most exciting new figures in Music City, with the ‘Sounds Like the Radio’ hitmaker's 2024 single, ‘I Never Lie’ going viral earlier in the year.
Billy Strings, meanwhile, remains a highly revered figure within the bluegrass space, with the Michigan native dropping his brand new body of work, Highway Prayers, in September. The record debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's all-genre Top Album Sales Chart, making Highway Prayers the first bluegrass album to achieve this feat in over 22 years.
With Zach Top and Billy Strings making this somewhat unexpected link-up for their Apple Music Nashville Sessions EP today (Friday, November 1st), fans will no doubt be hoping the two artists join forces for a full studio collaboration in the not too distant future. Zach and Billy's new project is available exclusively on Apple Music.
