Zach Bryan has always enjoyed a particularly close-knit relationship with his fans for someone of his status, but the Oklahoma chart-topper has taken things a step further by treating 100 people to a special, secret show at Sagebrush, Austin.
Announced just an hour before the start-time at 9pm, Zach Bryan dialled down the arena-filling histrionics to deliver an intimate, enchanting performance that spanned his impressive catalogue.
Given the intimacy and last-minute nature of the set, fans have speculated that Zach Bryan was using the show to film part of his upcoming music video for ‘Nine Ball’. The eagerly awaited visuals for the Boys Of Faith stand-out were teased at the end of Zach's music video for the EP's title-track, which dropped on December 6th.
Shortly after leaving the stage at the beloved Sagebrush venue, Zach Bryan took to X to express his gratitude to fans for showing up and bringing an electric atmosphere to the show.
The ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker underlined, “Sagebrush that was amazing, thank you so much” before teasing an immanent return, “Gotta go to Austin, Texas more huh”.
Zach Bryan's secret performance was unveiled hot on the heels of the folk-leaning trailblazer's divisive comments about the state of Music City's country scene, with Zach sharing a flurry of tongue-in-cheek remarks lamenting the fact that Tyler Childers had to wait until 2024 to earn his first ever charting single at Country Radio.
Zach compared one of Tyler's most iconic tracks, ‘Shake The Frost’, to Walker Hayes’ commercial country smash, ‘Fancy Like’, “Imagine being radio (whoever the hell that is), hearing Shake the Frost and being like ‘no no let’s go with the Applebees song’”.
Regardless of where you stand on Zach Bryan's take on Country Radio, one thing that remains undisputed is the Oklahoma singer-songwriter's ability to put on a spectacular show. His Sagebrush, Austin performance highlighted how, whether Zach is playing for 100,000 fans or just 100, he'll always leave everything out on that stage.
