A matter of days after his lengthy message responding to social media critics, Zach Bryan has returned to Instagram to share a new snippet of his unreleased track, ‘With Heaven On Top’.

We heard a snippet of the philosophical offering back in November 2024, with the Oklahoma singer-songwriter again joining forces with New York prodigy, Grumpy, for the track.

In the caption, after a key lyric from ‘With Heaven On Top’, the ‘Sun to Me’ hitmaker has included what appears to be a nod to his recent defence against online detractors. Last week, Zach Bryan emphasised through a flurry of Instagram Stories how followers had crossed a line by directing insults at his friends, following his contentious split from BFF's Podcast co-host, Brianna LaPaglia. After breaking up, LaPaglia accused Zach Bryan of emotional abuse and attempting to get her to sign an NDA about their relationship for an eye-watering $12 million.

In the ‘With Heaven On Top’ caption, Zach Bryan has stressed “I really fuckn love all my friends”. The song itself finds Bryan and Grumpy's vocals combining as seamlessly as they do on their two November duets, ‘This World's A Giant’ and ‘High Road’, as the protagonist resolves to go out and live his life to the fullest, even if it means going through Hell, because he knows Heaven will always be close.

It's an evocative ballad, which captures the angst and anguish that so often colours Zach Bryan's storytelling, but with a refreshing tint of optimism and hope laced into every lyric. Bryan advises listeners that, even though life is a rollercoaster, they should still do their best experience as much of it as they can - after all, “You won't find no answers safe at home / You can't learn heartbreak from a poem”.

Unfortunately, there's still no release date as of yet for ‘With Heaven On Top’, but Zach Bryan is believed to be working on his The Great American Bar Scene follow-up album at present.

Given the fact that ‘This World's A Giant’, ‘High Road’ and ‘With Heaven On Top’ all include vocals from Grumpy, it seems Grumpy may be featured on each of Zach Bryan's forthcoming tracks. Endearingly, another of Bryan's frequent collaborators, Hannah Lynn Cohen, who played fiddle on a trio of The Great American Bar Scene stand-outs, ‘Lucky Enough’, ‘28’ and ‘Towers’, has taken to the comments of Bryan's new teaser to express her support, “This friend fuckn loves you too”.

It follows Zach Bryan's vehement rebuttal to fans that had been lambasting his loved ones, with the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper emphasising, “I am allowed to have love, laughter and good people in my life. No matter how bad of a person you think I am, go ahead and come for me. I can take all the hatred because I'm not a child. But do not come for my friends who do nothing but love and care for me”.

With Zach Bryan spending some time away from the road in 2025 and eschewing from a full-scale tour, we suspect his next album might be inching closer to a release date.

Listeners will be hoping ‘With Heaven On Top’ is one of the first songs to be confirmed on the tracklist, with the intricate, bittersweet ode drawing an array of plaudits from fans.

For the full lyrics so far to Zach Bryan's new unreleased song, ‘With Heaven On Top’, see below:

“Gonna fight gonna cry, gonna fall in love

Gonna scrap and claw for what we're dreaming of

Gonna spend a night in jail after pissing off a cop

Go through Hell with Heaven on top

-

Lose some folks that we hold dear

The fireflies out at Toogie's shine awfully clear

Fight for our flags in some foreign place

While those greed politician boys all rat race

-

Drive to California and surf the coast

Be known for cutting up and cutting shit too close

It's a long hard day and a talk with dad

It's a heavy-footed boy in an ol’ fastback

-

You won't find no answers safe at home

You can't learn heartbreak from a poem

And every hard time, song rhyme and friend you've got

You'll have, with Heaven on top

With Heaven on top

You'll have, with Heaven on top”
