It wouldn't be a real Christmas without Zach Bryan surprise releasing a new live album, would it?
Two years on from Zach Bryan's Christmas day drop of All My Homes Hate Ticketmaster (Live From Red Rocks), the Oklahoma singer-songwriter has treated his loyal fanbase to another live project commemorating his 2024 Quittin’ Time tour, titled 24 (Live).
The sprawling new record is a whopping 25 songs long (it would've been a lot more satisfying if it was 24 songs, given the name of the album, but we'll let him off), and features live tracks captured at an array of his Quittin‘ Time dates throughout the past year.
24 (Live) includes some of Zach Bryan's high-profile on-stage link-ups, such as his enchanting performances of ‘I Remember Everything’ with Kacey Musgraves in Chicago, ‘Better Days’ with John Mayer in Los Angeles, ‘Dawns’ with Maggie Rogers in Brooklyn and ‘Hey Driver’ with The War and Treaty in Washington, DC.
24 (Live) pulses with the same raw, raucous dynamism that coursed through All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster (Live From Red Rocks), while carrying an additional sense of atmosphere and gravitas courtesy of him performing in considerably larger venues.
From the introductory teaser of the US National Anthem, right through until the rowdy, euphoric roar of the grand finale, ‘Revival’, Zach Bryan's 24 (Live) serves a twofold purpose.
For those who were able to attend one - or more - of Zach Bryan's Quittin’ Time shows, they act as a welcome memento and a chance to reminisce on an electric concert, and for fans who weren't fortunate enough to see him on this run, 24 (Live) offers a visceral snapshot into what it's like to be immersed in a jubilant crowd cheering along to Bryan's powerful, introspective ballads and his fierce, defiant anthems.
24 (Live) was released immediately after the final show of Zach Bryan's Quittin‘ Time tour in Brooklyn, New York. Although the project is being celebrated as an early Christmas gift for the ‘Something in the Orange’ crooner's listenership, 24 (Live) also feels somewhat bittersweet, due to the fact that Bryan has repeatedly underlined that he won't be touring in the same way in 2025, as he studies for his Masters in Paris.
So while we mourn the loss of a full-scale Zach Bryan tour next year and do our best to catch one of his smattering of isolated shows, such as his BST Hyde Park 2025 double-header in London, UK, we'll be holding onto 24 (Live) to tide us over into his next era.
