Zach Bryan has followed through on his promise to release his long-teased single, ‘Blue Jean Baby’, if his beloved Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Washington Commanders.
A matter of hours after being crowned the NFC victors and booking their spot in the 2025 Super Bowl last night (Sunday, January 26th), the Oklahoma singer-songwriter has kept his word and made the uptempo ‘Blue Jean Baby’ available to stream.
In addition, Zach Bryan has offered us a tantalising preview of what's to come from him in 2025, with the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper confirming via a new Instagram post that he'll be releasing both an EP and an album before the year is out.
Bryan began by toasting the Eagles’ comfortable 55 - 23 victory over the Commanders, “BIRDS WIN. OUT AT MIDNIGHT. SEE YALL IN NEW ORLEANS”, before casually adding the momentous news, “EP AND ALBUM BY THE END OF THE YEAR”.
Zach Bryan has built a reputation for his stellar EPs, which tend to arrive shortly after his album releases. Unusually, the ‘Pink Skies’ crooner did not follow up The Great American Bar Scene with an EP - but excitingly, it looks like we'll be getting one in 2025.
The name of his next album is yet to be officially unveiled, but earlier in January, Zach Bryan shared a clip of Matthew McConaughey introducing a new film about the creation of the project, titled Motorbreath. This seemingly suggests the record will also be called ‘Motorbreath’, as Bryan has been sharing snippets of an unreleased track of the same name across socials in recent months.
There's no release date for the time being, but it certainly feels as though the rollout is picking up pace for Zach Bryan's keenly awaited sixth studio album, which will reportedly be his final body of work with Warner Records. In McConaughey's Motormouth teaser, the Texan refers to it as Bryan's “final major label album”, which implies the folk-country megastar may be going independent after this.
The new album is expected to include Zach Bryan's two November 2024 singles, ‘High Road’ and ’This World's A Giant’, but it's unclear whether ‘Blue Jean Baby’ will feature.
Via a new Instagram Story, Bryan has described the track as a ‘half song’ that he built out of a demo that listeners loved back in September 2023, so it's possible ‘Blue Jean Baby’ is simply a standalone track that he's dropped to appease these fans.
Either way, after the uncertainty posed by his revelation that he wouldn't be touring in 2025 and that he'd instead be studying for his Master's degree in Paris, it looks like we've still got plenty of new material to look forward to from Zach Bryan this year.
This Wednesday (January 29th), for instance, we'll get to hear the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker's revamped duet version of Jack Van Cleaf's evocative cult classic, ‘Rattlesnake’.
