Zach Bryan has made a rare comment on TikTok, after a page named ‘Clip.Dis’ reshared footage of the Oklahoma singer-songwriter interacting with the police during his 2023 arrest.
The clip finds the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker arguing with the cop that handcuffed him, with Zach Bryan asking the policeman, “Give me a ticket or take me to jail, please”.
Zach Bryan has popped up in the comments section of the video to seemingly imply he would gladly receive the speeding ticket again, if he experienced the same situation, “Would still take ticket”. The crux of the argument between the country-folk chart-topper and the police appeared to revolve around the fact that the cop was asking Bryan where he lives, with the artist refusing to reveal that information, citing his status as a well-known public figure as his reason for withholding his address.
It feels a little odd for Zach Bryan to reopen the can of worms that emerged when footage of his arrest was originally released, with many commentators criticising the ‘High Road’ crooner for his somewhat confrontational behaviour towards the police officer.
Shortly after the arrest back in September 2023, which led to Zach Bryan spending a brief spell in Oklahoma's Craig County Jail, Bryan issued a video apology, “It was ridiculous, it was immature, and I just pray everyone knows I don't think I'm above the law. I was just being disrespectful and I shouldn't have been, it was my mistake”.
This makes his new comment all the more surprising, as it suggests he doesn't regret that he ended up getting a ticket. The phrasing of ‘Would still take ticket’ isn't 100% clear, so it's possible Zach Bryan meant something else by his unexpected response.
Zach Bryan is currently enjoying some time away from the road following the conclusion of his 2024 Quittin’ Time tour, with Bryan confirming he won't be touring in the same capacity this year, as he instead focusses on studying for his Masters degree in Paris. He is, however, believed to be working on his follow-up album to 2024's The Great American Bar Scene, with Bryan continuing to tease unreleased tracks via socials, such as the introspective ‘They Ain't You’.
