"My mama said not to release this one," Willow Avalon posted in a teaser for her new song back on 25th July, but thankfully she didn't take her advice.

The ‘Tequila or Whiskey’ singer released her brand new single ‘Yodelayheewho’ today and after teasing the secret feature on TikTok and Instagram, it was revealed to be none other than Maggie Antone. OMG!!!!

“YODELAYHEEWHO COMES OUT TONIGHT!!! CAN YALL GUESS WHO THE SECRET FEATURE IS?:)” Willow Avalon posted the night before the song’s release along with a video of her singing to a barman which ended with the camera panning down the bar as Avalon passed her pint of beer along to the still yet to be revealed singer, but fans were quick to spot the mystery guest was wearing Antone’s signature heart necklace.

“Willow Avalon what in tarnation did you put in this song? Cuz it's got me in a dagum CHOKEHOLD," Antone responded to Avalon in a post of her own the following day. "Yodelayheewho do you think you are dropping a banger like this??????”

Having both previously featured as one of our Holler 10 Artists You Need to Know, it’s no surprise that we’re very excited about the surprise collaboration between Willow Avalon and the ‘Johnny Moonshine’ singer.

Joining forces with Maggie Antone, the song features Avalon’s signature vibrato twang as the pair tear into a deadbeat ex-boyfriend and give him a mercilessly honest dressing down.

“When you start talkin' It just smells like shit,” Avalon sings straight from the off. “So, yodelayhee yodelayhee yodelayhee who do you think you are? With your too tight jeans and your broke down car / So yodel-ay, yodel-ay, yodel-ay, why would I care That your little band's playing bars and no one's there?”

“You ain't a big man by any means / The only thing that’s big on you is your dreams,” Maggie Antone sings as she picks up the second verse and lays into this loser even harder. “And if I’m honest, Lord knows I am / You were a momentary lapse of judgement I’ll never understand.”

The song is the follow up to Willow Avalon’s ‘Tequila or Whiskey,’ ‘Hey There, Dolly’ and ‘Gettin’ Rich, Goin’ Broke’, the latter of which serves as a stand-out on Avalon's much-loved 2024 EP, Stranger. The collaboration also comes ahead of Maggie Antone’s own album, Rhinestoned, which is due out Love Big via Thirty Tigers on 23rd August.

'Yodelayheewho' is now the second single from Willow’s eagerly awaited debut album due out later this year. The song quickly proved itself a fan favorite after amassing over 10 million combined views on social media within just two weeks.

After Willow Avalon posted a photo of the two of them to her instagram stories with their backs to the camera, wearing matching denim jeans and leaning over a pool table with the location tagged as “Nashville, Tennessee,” fans are wondering if there isn’t going to be a video to go along with the song coming soon.

A self-described “Southern Belle raising Hell”, Georgia-born, New York-based Willow Avalon is the daughter of outsider artist and musician Jim White. Adding a big splash of NYC cool to her classic country, she pitches her peach stall somewhere between Pageant Material era Kacey and contemporaries like Lola Kirke and Hailey Whitters, as she shapes up to be one of country music’s great eccentrics.

Willow Avalon is currently out on the road supporting chart-topping indie-rock band Cage The Elephant, proving her traditional country has more than enough potential to crossover. After appearing as a special guest on the title track to their latest album, Leavin’ This Holler, Maggie Antone is supporting 49 Winchester at selected dates in September and plays Born & Raised festival and Bourbon & Beyond at the end of the month.

Earlier this week, Willow announced her first-ever headline shows at Los Angeles’ The Roxy, San Diego’s Voodoo Room, and San Francisco’s Cafe Du Nord.

'Yodelayheewho (feat. Maggie Antone)' by Willow Avalon is out now on Assemble Sound and Atlantic. For more information click here.
