Here's the country pair-off we didn't know we needed.

One of the genre's most refreshing and exciting acts, Sierra Ferrell, hopped on stage with megastar Post Malone last night (July 16) for a couple songs during his special event at Music Marathon Works in Nashville.

The duo teamed up for a couple of songs, including a cover of Johnny and June's timeless classic 'Jackson' and a performance of 'Never Love You Again', an unreleased track which is expected to appear on Malone's first country album, F-1 Trillion.

Malone first debuted the latter at this year's ACM Awards where, according to reports, Ferrell was first meant to join him to perform the song. This duet now makes us think Ferrell could appear on Malone's album, which I'm sure none of us out here would be at all against.

A waltzing country ballad, 'Never Love You Again' is the first song Malone has teased from the record to have a feeling of tenderness or vulnerability to it. Their performance last night had a beautiful lilt, the pair's voices aching with raw exasperation as they harmonised. Staring at each other as they sang, it was easy to see the fun the duo were having performing the song together for the first time while backed by a large live band.

Ferrell wasn't the only star to make an appearance with Malone at the special event, with Blake Shelton, Joe Nichols and HARDY all popping up to perform a song or two with the man of the moment.

With Shelton, Posty performed the former's immediate classic 'Some Beach', as well as their smash hit 'Pour Me A Drink', while Nichols came out to do his 2000s bittersweet bop 'Brokenheartsville'.

With Hardy, meanwhile, Malone offered up a first taste of their potential collaboration - a song seemingly entitled 'Would You Hide My Gun'.

It's been some weekend for country fan favourite Ferrell, who turned up to play at Under The Big Sky in Montana this past Sunday on a horse alongside superstar DJ Diplo. She also pulled double duty alongside Billy Strings, taking to the stage with him during his headline set to cover Cher's 'Believe'.

With F-1 Trillion now less than a month away, things in the world of Post Malone are only going to get hotter from here.
