Noah Kahan has joined in with the viral ‘Hozier's yell’ trend that's been going around on TikTok, with the ‘She Calls Me Back’ hitmaker offering his tongue-in-cheek attempt at mimicking his ‘Northern Attitude’ duet partner's iconic, haunting scream.
Noah Kahan and Hozier teamed up back in 2023 for a star-studded, revamped version of ‘Northern Attitude’, which appeared on Kahan's widely lauded 2022 record, Stick Season.
It remains one of the stand-out collaborations to arise from that stretch of blockbuster duets, which also saw Kahan joining forces with Gracie Abrams, Kacey Musgraves, Post Malone and many more. One of the most enchanting parts of this reimagined take on ‘Northern Attitude’ comes when Hozier bellows out into the void before the final chorus, a moment that is now known as ‘Hozier's yell’.
Taking to TikTok, Noah Kahan has jokingly delivered his own rendition of Hozier's yell, with the ‘Dial Drunk’ singer-songwriter once again showcasing why he's not only one of the leading folk titans of the modern era, but also one of the funniest.
Introducing the light-hearted clip, Noah Kahan explains with mock seriousness, “Hey guys, this is my attempt at the Hozier yell”, before hilariously screaming into the camera.
Endearingly, even as his streaming numbers and follower count have both grown astronomically over the past few years, Noah Kahan has maintained his playful and often self-deprecating approach towards social media. Prior to sharing this new clip, Kahan quipped on Instagram, “Sorry I've been off socials for a while been doing super fun and chill shit / found meaning to life/ am better than everyone else now”.
The Hozier yell has become a staple across TikTok of late, with users starting the trend of sharing moments that were so euphoric and joyful that they “felt like Hozier's yell”.
We're holding out hope that Noah Kahan and Hozier have plans to hit the studio together again in the near future, with Kahan continuing to work on his eagerly anticipated Stick Season (Forever) follow-up album. The project is expected to feature a colossal collaboration with another member of today's folk pantheon, Bon Iver.
