After a week of cryptic teasers, Tyler Childers has officially unveiled his next album. Titled Snipe Hunter, the 13-track release is set to arrive on July 25th, 2025, with the production handled by none other than multi-Grammy winner, Rick Rubin.
‘Nose on the Grindstone’, a longstanding fan-favourite that was only previously released as an OurVinyl Session, has been made available immediately on all streaming platforms. The track's release has been accompanied by a new live video, out via YouTube.
The news follows the mysterious emergence of the ‘Hickman Holler Hunting Club’ website and Instagram account, with an enigmatic trailer video being uploaded yesterday (Wednesday, June 11th), teasing today's exciting announcement.
The artwork for Snipe Hunter features a portrait of Tyler Childers reclining in a stately library, with Childers seemingly eating a leg of chicken as his dog curls up at his feet.
The cover consolidates the hunting-inspired themes that have pervaded the Snipe Hunter rollout so far, with a range of mounted animal skulls on the wall behind Childers.
The teaser video featured the star of the ‘In Your Love’ hitmaker's 2022 music video for ’Angel Band’, Casey Campbell, as he gets a fresh haircut ahead of a hunting club meeting. While walking out, the barber calls out a woman called Oneida, which leaves Campbell looking stunned and fretful, before scurrying out of the door.
Fans speculated that this was a hint that Childers would be dropping his much-loved track, ‘Oneida’, which he has been performing since the early days of his career, but has never officially released. It tells the tale of a young man falling in love with an older woman. With ‘Nose on the Grindstone’ being given a release as part of Snipe Hunter, we're keeping our fingers crossed ’Oneida’ will follow suit in the coming weeks.
The title feels like a nod to a song the country trailblazer performed in 2018, ‘Snipe Hunt’, with fans wondering if the new album will consist entirely of new versions of earlier material.
