Could a star-studded collaboration be on the cards?
The genre-boundaries that used to be so entrenched around country music have become increasingly blurred in the last couple of years. Tucker Wetmore's 808-fuelled, melody-filled and decidedly Morgan Wallen-esque sound epitomises this.
Another artist that recently highlighted the malleability of genres in the modern landscape is pop phenomenon, Sabrina Carpenter, who surprised fans by including an unmistakably country track, ‘Slim Pickins’ on her momentous new album, Short N’ Sweet.
As is to be expected, given the ubiquitous nature of Sabrina Carpenter's multi-Platinum smashes, ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’, throughout 2024, in a new interview with Spotify, Tucker Wetmore underlined his appreciation for his fellow viral star.
During a conversation with Spotify after being named their latest RADAR artist, Tucker Wetmore revealed what he's been listening to of late, “I also like stuff out of country too, like Sabrina Carpenter's stuff. Like that ‘Please Please Please’ song is just a bop”, before going on to name-check ‘Espresso’, as another of his current favourites.
The Kalama, Washington singer-songwriter underlined, “Every time it comes on I can't help but move around with it”. Tucker Wetmore's admission will have no doubt piqued the interest of fans of both artists, who will now be hoping Tucker and Sabrina can consolidate their penchant for sonic shape-shifting by linking up to record a duet.
The ‘Wine Into Whiskey’ hitmaker cited another contemporary chart-topper as being part of his regular rotation at the moment, sharing, “Pre-show we'll throw on some Tommy Richman”, before expressing his love for Thomas Rhett's new album, About a Woman.
Tucker Wetmore is set to support TR on his 2025 Better in Boots tour, alongside The Castellows and Dasha, with the run of shows kicking off in June in Rogers, Arkansas.
Elsewhere during Tucker Wetmore's conversation with Spotify, the ‘Wind Up Missin’ You’ prodigy delved into how he got into music after an injury halted his football career, the creative process behind his forthcoming Waves On a Sunset EP and more.
