Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims have joined forces for a sleek, spellbinding rendition of their celebrated new collaboration, ‘Somethin’ Bout a Woman’, on the 2024 CMA Awards stage.
The soulful, simmering track finds TR and TS trading adoring verses about their respective lovers, with the infectious, uptempo instrumental matching the energy each artist brought to Bridgestone Arena. One of the most entertaining aspects of their performance was getting to see how much fun both Rhett and Swims were having during the set, with the duo's endearing chemistry radiating throughout.
The playful cry of the guitar that punctuates each line of the chorus played like a third vocalist during this performance, with Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims making a case for ’Somethin’ Bout a Woman’ to receive a 2025 CMA Awards nod for Musical Event of the Year.
Originally released back in August as part of Thomas Rhett's acclaimed new album, About a Woman, ‘Somethin’ Bout a Woman‘ was given a fresh lick of paint when TR's good buddy and ‘Broke’ collaborator, Teddy Swims, hopped on the remix in November.
Excitingly, Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims also offered up a stunning take on Swims’ viral smash, ‘Lose Control’, consolidating the refreshing, genre-blending feel of the performance.
The two artists have been friends for years now, with Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims collaborating on one of Swims’ earlier hits, ‘Broke’, in 2020. Now, the ‘Bad Dreams’ singer-songwriter has emerged as one of the break-out artists of the year, with Teddy Swims’ slow-burning ballad, ‘Lose Control’, a mainstay on the Billboard Hot 100.
Thomas Rhett, meanwhile, has been enjoying a highly successful year of his own, with the ‘Look What God Gave Her’ hitmaker securing his 22nd career No. 1 at Country Radio with his sweet, Morgan Wallen-assisted ode to grandmothers, ‘Mamaw's House’.
Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims performed ‘Somethin’ Bout a Woman’ during the star-studded 2024 CMA Awards ceremony, which aired on Wednesday, November 20th via ABC. The show is available to stream in the US via Hulu from November 21st.
