An array of mysterious billboards have popped up across New York, Los Angeles and Nashville promoting Chappell Roan's long-teased new country single, ‘The Giver’.
Chappell Roan first performed the playful, uptempo ode to sapphic love during her Saturday Night Live appearance in November, with fans calling for the pop phenom to drop the infectious offering ever since. Thankfully, it seems we're closer to a release date.
The ‘HOT TO GO!’ hitmaker has officially made ‘The Giver’ available to pre-order, with Chappell Roan teasing a ‘Lawyer’ version of the highly anticipated new song via Instagram.
Chappell has accompanied the artwork with the caption, “⍟ THE LAWYER ⍟...ur ex’s worst nightmare + she gets the job DONE ✔︎✔︎✔︎...Pre-order The Giver - Lawyer Edition 7” available now...(ง’̀-‘́)ง...Ps keep ur eyes peeled, she may be on a billboard in your town”.
One all the newly unveiled billboards, which have been put up in collaboration with Spotify, there is a hotline number - ‘620-HOT-TO-GO’ - a reference to Chappell Roan's 2023 hit, with the Missouri prodigy playing the role of a personal injury lawyer. The billboard also contains the phrase “Your Ex's Worst Nightmare” and “They'll Take It Like A Taker”, with the latter being a nod to one of the lyrics in ‘The Giver’.
It's not yet clear how the ‘lawyer’ theme plays into the rollout of the new song, with this potentially being a hint at the name of Chappell Roan's keenly awaited sophomore album.
The decision to choose Music City as one of the locations for this Spotify promotional billboard consolidates Chappell Roan's foray into the world of country music. Chappell has flirted with the genre in the past, and it remains to be seen whether the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer-songwriter is planning to release a full-length country album.
At present, it seems ‘The Giver’ will be a standalone country song, included as part of a genre-blending album. Either way, we can't wait to hear the full studio version of this anthem.
There's no official release date for ‘The Giver’ just yet, but when you visit Chappell Roan's vinyl pre-order page, it reveals these will be shipped “on or around” August 18th, 2025.
This doesn't necessarily mean this is when ’The Giver’ will arrive on streaming platforms. We suspect that, with the emergence of these new billboards, the rollout for the song is picking up pace, and the track might even be dropping in the next few weeks.
