It's official! Koe Wetzel's next project is in the works.
While in conversation with Holler about his upcoming Stagecoach debut, the 'Sweet Dreams' hitmaker confirmed that he's been hard at work on new music and what will potentially be the follow-up to last year's 9 Lives.
"We're a few weeks out away from being totally finished with the writing part of it," he explained, adding, "We've recorded a good chunk of it and I'll be back in Nashville this upcoming week and the week after to write with some awesome songwriters. I'm really excited to get in the studio with them and see what we can come up with."
What songs he does have, he's been holding onto and perfecting, telling Holler that he wants any new project to be able to hold up to the ones previous.
He shared, "We have enough songs now to put out a record, but we're trying to get as many songs as we can in the vault to look back at it and make this record just as good as the last one was. I want it to keep up that pace with what we had on 9 Lives."
When speaking with Holler last fall, Wetzel noted that there were some songs that didn't make it onto the last record and other tunes still hanging around, waiting to be released. Even then, he wholeheartedly confirmed, "We're ready for 2025. I still got a lot of shit to say, so be ready for it.”
While it's too soon for the finer details, the artist shared his excitement for what's to come, teasing, "There'll be some new music this year. I don't know about a full record. If it is, it'll be later on in the year, but we'll have something."
It's been a big few years for Wetzel – undoubtedly some of the biggest of his career – but it seems he's watching it all pay off.
"I don't know if rest days exist anymore," he shared, "but we're very blessed to be in our situation and we're pumped to be where we're at."
