The War and Treaty kicked off proceedings at the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers NFL game, with the Grammy-nominated duo delivering a spellbinding rendition of the national anthem.
The husband-and-wife duo treated attendees to a stellar take on the Star-Spangled Banner before the Thanksgiving match got underway, with the night being made all the more momentous by the fact that The War and Treaty were performing in their home-state.
Although their beloved Lions went on to lose 29-22 to the Packers, The War and Treaty's Michael and Tanya took to socials to underline how much the performance meant to them.
They shared, “Thank you for having us, Detroit! Singing for our country on a day that represents love & togetherness has completely filled our hearts. Happy Thanksgiving to our beautiful nation”.
It's been a colossal year for The War and Treaty, with the couple earning a deserved 2024 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist alongside Jelly Roll, Noah Kahan and more.
It's safe to say country music enjoyed a strong presence across the Thanksgiving NFL games, with Dolly Parton performing ‘Jolene’ and ‘9 to 5’ before covering Queen's ‘We Are The Champions’ at the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders match.
