Oklahoma native Anthony Borges stole four Bud Light cans from the late country music icon Toby Keith's "Dream Walkin' Farms."

Borges, who broke into Keith's estate in 2024, shortly after the country legend's passing, wandered into the empty cabana filled with Toby Keith memorabilia - and a refrigerator of alcohol. The Oklahoma man had stolen four cans of Bud Light from the refrigerator, before making his way to the Keith estate's garage.

Opposing Borges in the case, the office of Attorney General Gentner Drummond released a statement on what he claims to have happened, as far as Borges act of theft:

"The defendant grabbed three Bud Light cans and headed back towards the glass door, appearing to be leaving, but then abruptly turned around and grabbed one more. Apparently satisfied with the four Bud Lights, the defendant exited the cabana through the glass door and made his way to the garage.”

The office of Drummond also states that Borges was initially turned away from the home by Keith's daughter, before he made his way onto the cabana.

When approached by police officers that had been called on him, Borges told the officers that he found himself at the estate because "The lord told him to come work for Toby Keith."

In a classic "he said, she said" case, the attorney in opposition to Borges stated he entered the cabana with the "intent to steal," while Borges argued against this, stating that there is no evidence of such claim.

The team representing Borges backed the claim he made to police officers, stating that he wandered onto the property in hopes of finding work, and lingered perhaps longer than necessary drinking from the Bud Light cans due to him being a fan of the country star.

Borges was convicted in April of 2025, as a Cleveland County jury concluded that the theft did take place, and found him guilty of second-degree burglary. Borges was to serve two years for this conviction along with pre-existing charges.

On July 9th of this year, the Oklahoma court of Criminal Appeals upheld the conviction, but Borges was released from the Department of Corrections on June 1st, his overall record displaying systemic issues at multiple criminal justice systems, along with mental health issues.

Regardless of the happenings of the Oklahoma justice system, this writer would like to suggest the idea that if Keith were still with us today, he gladly would've cracked a Bud Light with Borges, and in the midst of the case being settled, the country icon continues to smile down on his home state.
