"The First Chapter in a Whole New Era": Lukas Nelson to Release Solo Project, 'American Romance,' on June 20

Lukas Nelson is embarking on a new musical journey sans his longtime band, Promise of the Real.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter will release American Romance, his debut solo project and first in partnership with Sony Music Nashville, on June 20. The album, produced by Shooter Jennings, will feature a dozen travel-worn and time-shaped tracks, chronicling his life on the road.

Fellow stars Stephen Wilson Jr. and Sierra Ferrell are set to guest star on the release.

“This album is the first chapter in a whole new era of my life as an artist," Nelson shared of the project in a statement. "It's a love story to the country that raised me. Diners and highways that carried me through the joy and pain that led to the music you hear now.”

A first taste of that new era comes by way of 'Ain't Done,' a staggering single released this Friday (Mar. 21).

The sweeping country opus finds the artist mining his depths, pulling forth nothing but wisdom. In the chorus, he sings: "God ain't done with you / Every time you win, every time you lose / There's a guarantee with every evening sun / Nothing lasts and God ain't done."

“I went through this period of self-reflection and George Harrison’s song, ‘All Things Must Pass,’ was part of what got me through that moment," he said of the new tune. "It gave me that understanding that it’s not for us to know what comes next. Everything changes and nothing stays the same.”

Hopefully, 'Ain't Done' is just a small sample of what's still to come from Nelson and American Romance.
