The head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels football team, Lane Kiffin, has revealed via X (formerly Twitter) the sweet gift Morgan Wallen has sent him, as a thank you for Kiffin joining Wallen for his live-wire walkout ahead of his Oxford, Mississippi show last April.
Morgan Wallen's walkouts have become a beloved pre-show tradition, with the lights dimming and his ferocious country-trap collaboration with Lil Durk, ‘Broadway Girls’, reverberating out across the stadium speakers as Wallen saunters towards the stage.
With the Sneedville megastar's walkouts being shown on each venue's Jumbotron, they've become an event in themselves, as fans look forward to seeing which special guests Morgan Wallen has taken with him. In Vegas, for instance, we got Tom Brady and Mike Tyson, while in his home-state at Neyland Stadium, Wallen walked out with the entire Tennessee Volunteers team and Peyton Manning.
In Oxford, Mississippi last April, Morgan Wallen opted to pay tribute to the local college football team, by inviting Ole Miss Rebels’ coach Lane Kiffin to join him for his pre-show routine.
It was undoubtedly an especially energised walkout, boosted by the fact that this was Morgan Wallen's keenly awaited rescheduled date from 2023, after the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper was forced to cancel the original show at the last minute due to losing his voice.
Endearingly, as an expression of gratitude from Morgan Wallen, the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter has sent a commemorative football to Lane Kiffin, emblazoned with Wallen and Kiffin's names and the title of the tour - One Night At A Time 2024.
As a personal touch, the football also features the specific date and show that Lane Kiffin walked out with Morgan Wallen for, ‘Vaught-Hemingway Stadium - Oxford, MS - April 20th”.
Alongside a photo of the football proudly displayed in a glass cabinet, Lane Kiffin has thanked Morgan Wallen for the thoughtful gift on X. In addition to the football, Wallen included a note for Kiffin, reading, “Thank you for being such a key part of my nightly walkouts. Your contribution inspired me to have more energy and more confidence to go out and kill it. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. God bless!”
It'll be fascinating to see who Morgan Wallen brings out with him for his 2025 I'm the Problem Tour walkouts, with the country titan kicking off his next run of shows in June in Houston.
