With a new Taylor Swift era comes new thrilling surprises at every turn, which is exactly what Australian fans were greeted with on February 16 during her first of three nights in Melbourne.
During the highly-anticipated acoustic section of her Eras Tour show – which finds Swift playing a pair of songs with just her and a guitar and piano each night – the 'Anti-Hero' songwriter unveiled an alternate cover of her forthcoming The Tortured Poets Department LP.
This second version, called The Bolter Edition, finds Swift in similar form as the original cover, yet somehow more forlorn as she lies on an empty bed in grayscale. As she described it on stage, this version of the cover is "so tortured, so poetic".
Beyond that, this second vinyl edition also features an exclusive bonus track of the same name.
As she was building up the anticipation during this already adrenaline-inducing section of her three-hour set, Swift shared: "I'm very excited for April 19th because The Tortured Poets Department will be out on that date. I cannot wait for you to hear all of those songs."
She continued: "Tortured Poets is an album that I think, more than any of my albums that I've ever made, I needed to make it. It was really a lifeline for me. The things I was going through and the things I was writing about, it kind of reminded me of why songwriting is something that actually gets me through my life.
"I've never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on Tortured Poets," Swift added.
A cherry on top, after the screams of Aussie swifties died down, the highly-decorated entertainer treated the sold our crowd to her first-ever live performance of fan-favorite Midnights track, 'You're Losing Me'.
'The Bolter' joins previously announced Bonus Track, 'The Manuscript', as well as the other 16 songs that will be available on the standard version of The Tortured Poets Department.
Also teed up on Swift's eleventh studio album are a pair of exciting collaborations: one titled 'Fortnight' with rap juggernaut Post Malone, whose recently making his own strides in country music, and another with indie rock outfit, Florence + The Machine, called 'Florida!!!'
