Taylor Swift has announced that she has finished re-recording her sophomore album Fearless.

In a statement on social media, Swift said “Written when I was between the ages of 16 and 18, these were the songs it killed me to leave behind”.

Her announcement contains a series of capitalised letters, similar to those found in the original album's lyric booklet, that spells out the words April Ninth - the possible release date of the new record.

The 26-song album entitled Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will contain six previously unreleased tracks, including a new recording of the crossover smash hit ‘Love Story’, which will be released at midnight tonight (12/2).

Swift parted ways with her original label Big Machine Label Group after the release of her ‘Reputation’ album.

Swift vowed to re-record all of her previous albums after attempts to buy the masters of her albums were denied by Big Machine label head Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun.

The original album won a Grammy in 2010 for album of the year, making Swift the youngest recipient of the prize.

A representative for Swift said that the new version of Fearless will stay faithful to the sound of the original production.
