Stephen Wilson Jr. has shared the new acoustic video for his fan-favourite Hailey Whitters collaboration, ‘American Gothic’.

The moody, atmospheric track embodies the gravitas and lyrical depth that pervades the rest of Wilson Jr.'s recently released bon aqua EP, on which ‘American Gothic’ first appeared.

The new acoustic rendition of the song enables listeners to get a snapshot into Wilson Jr.'s eye-catching, charismatic live performances. The Southern Indiana native recently impressed audiences on the other side of the Atlantic with his set at the UK's inaugural Highways Festival.

Stephen Wilson Jr. joined Hailey Whitters as part of her popular 2023 Raised tour, with the two Big Loud signees’ close creative bond being conveyed via the new ‘American Gothic’ video.

For the majority of the visuals, Whitters and Wilson Jr. trade lyrics inside Nashville's iconic Welcome to 1979 Studio, with the duo occasionally leaving the mic to explore the various paraphernalia dotted around the space, which used to house a record pressing facility.

Speaking ahead of the release, Wilson Jr. explained how it came about, “Hailey Whitters and I have been singing ‘American Gothic’ on her US headlining tour and thought we would climb into a Nashville time capsule at Welcome to 1979 and record a live version of the song exactly how it started, grungy and stripped-down to the basics: gut-string and lyric”.

Wilson Jr. has a sprawling list of tour dates lined up across the remainder of 2023, including supporting shows for 49 Winchester, Midland, Charley Crockett and Marcus King. After hearing this acoustic rendition of ‘American Gothic’, it's safe to say attendees will be hoping to get the chance to hear the track out on the road this year.
