Spotify Lyrics Sharing for Noah Kahan's ‘End of August’ Surged by Over 170% in August

According to new Spotify data shared with Holler, Noah Kahan's Autumnal anthem, ‘End of August’, saw a massive increase in lyrics sharing in August 2026, compared to July.
Kahan's ethereal, atmospheric song, which appears on his new album, The Great Divide: The Last Of The Bugs, has been enjoying a viral moment across TikTok as the summer draws to a close. Judging by these stats, it seems fans have been diving into the lyrics for Kahan's evocative, bittersweet ode while they listen.
Compared to July, lyrics sharing for ’End of August’ rose by over 170% on Spotify. During the final week of August, lyrics shares leapt by more than seven-times the daily average in July. Perhaps unsurprisingly, overall sharing peaked on August 31st.
Since its release towards the end of April, ‘End of August’ has blossomed into the soundtrack of that confusing period between the late summer and the start of the Fall, one that is at times depressing and gloomy, and at others beautiful and refreshing.
Co-written by Kahan and one of his key collaborators on The Great Divide, Aaron Dessner, ‘End of August’ kicks off the album on a wistful note, as the Vermont native reflects on the changing of seasons. He touches on the coldness and hostility that Autumn can bring, before toasting the season as a chance at rejuvenation and respite, now that the tourists will start to leave his beloved home-state.
During an interview earlier this summer, Dessner praised Kahan's courage in choosing ’End of August’ as the album's opener, citing it as one of his favourite intros ever, “As far as intros and the introduction to something, Noah Kahan...The Great Divide came out recently and we made a bunch of songs for it. ‘End of August’, which opens his record...I was kind of shocked when he told me it was the first song”.
Although we imagine it won't reach the highs of its name-sake month, as we dive deeper into Autumn, we're sure ‘End of August’ - and so many other Kahan gems that feel tailor-made for the Fall - will be a mainstay on our seasonal playlists.
