Shaboozey's genre-blending hit, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, has scored a 35th week atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart, making it the longest-running No. 1 by a single artist.
In securing its 35th frame at the peak of the ranking, Shaboozey's J-Kwon-interpolating anthem surpasses Sam Hunt's ‘Body Like a Back Road’, which spent 34 weeks at No. 1.
The longest-running song in the history of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart remains Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha's breezy, uplifting collaboration, ‘Meant to Be’, which notched a colossal 50 weeks at the pinnacle of the ranking in 2018. Shaboozey now holds the title for the longest run at No. 1 as a solitary artist.
It's nonetheless an impressive feat for the ‘Drink Don't Need No Mix’ crooner, with Shaboozey continuing to cement himself as one of the biggest names in contemporary country music. Last year, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ spent a staggering 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ record for ‘Old Town Road’.
The Virginia native is currently working on his eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2024's Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, which has produced a plethora of fan-favourites such as ‘Last Of My Kind’ with Paul Cauthen, ‘Anabelle’ and ‘My Fault’ with Noah Cyrus.
Shaboozey's next project is believed to include the infectious ‘Good News’, which dropped in November, as well as previously teased duets with Morgan Wallen and Sierra Ferrell.
With the momentum remaining strong behind the country prodigy, courtesy of his break-out, chart-dominating year, it's safe to say expectations are sky-high ahead of his next album.
