When Blake Shelton announced that he'd be leaving his role as a judge on The Voice at the end of this season, some fans were a little worried the hit TV show might subsequently shift away from country music.
However, they need not fear, because Blake's replacement has now been confirmed as country music legend, Reba McEntire. She'll be joining the judging panel alongside Niall Horan, John Legend and Blake's wife, Gwen Stefani.
Although viewers will be sad to see the ever-affable Blake leaving the show, especially given the fact that they were able to enjoy witnessing his relationship with Gwen Stefani blossoming before their eyes over a number of season, Reba is a celebrated addition to the roster.
Season 23 of The Voice is still ongoing, with the live shows kicking off on Monday, May 15. During the first semi-final, NOIVAS, Grace West, Sorelle, D. Smooth and Gina Miles all progressed through to the next stage of the competition, with Holly Brand, Ray Uriel and Ryley Tate Wilson all exiting after an impressive run.
Reba McEntire is no stranger to the machinations of The Voice, with the ‘Fancy’ hitmaker having briefly joined the hugely popular show during this season as a ‘mega-mentor’, which will have helped to prepare her for her role as a regular judge next season.
Reba's addition to the Season 23 panel was announced during the opening night of the 2023 NBCUniversal Upfront series of events on May 15, with TV personality and actress, Zuri Hall, making the revelation during the New York extravaganza.
