Following a stellar year for the genre, country music will be well-represented at the 2025 American Music Awards, with the nominations unveiled today (Wednesday, April 23rd).

Post Malone, Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan have received coveted nods in the most prestigious category of the evening, Artist of the Year. The trio of country titans are set to battle it out with mainstream heavyweights, such as Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA and Taylor Swift.

It'll undoubtedly be a very closely fought contest, with fans able to vote for their favourite in the lead-up to the highly anticipated 2025 AMA Awards ceremony on Monday, May 26th. The star-studded evening will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez.

Out of the country contingent, Post Malone leads the way with a whopping eight nominations in total, second overall only to Kendrick Lamar, who tallies an impressive ten nods.

In addition to Artist of the Year, Post Malone is vying for Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album (F-1 Trillion), Favorite Country Song (‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen), Album of the Year (F-1 Trillion), Song of the Year (‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen) and Collaboration of the Year (two nods, for ‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen and ‘Fortnight’ with Taylor Swift).

In the stacked Favorite Female Country Artist category, Beyoncé, Ella Langley, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney will face off in a hotly contested group.

Similarly, the Favorite Male Country Artist will be crowned from the nominated grouping of Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Post Malone and Shaboozey. Although this marks his first time being nominated at the AMAs, Shaboozey earns seven nods, courtesy of the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker's break-out year.

Elsewhere, Dan + Shay, Old Dominion, Parmalee, The Red Clay Strays and Zac Brown Band all received nominations for Favorite Country Duo or Group, while Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan make their way into the Favorite Touring Artist category, alongside pop-leaning powerhouses, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift.

With the 2025 American Music Awards being fan-voted, it's always difficult to predict who will triumph - particularly for the Artist of the Year gong, with each candidate possessing a fiercely loyal army of followers. You have to assume Taylor Swift will be the out-and-out favorite, but each artist's fanbase will be doing their best to cause an upset when the winner is announced on May 26th in Las Vegas.
