Post Malone pulled out all the stops for the long-awaited opening of his Big Ass Stadium Tour, with the ‘Chemical’ hitmaker teaming up with his openers, Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell during his spellbinding headline set at Salt Lake City's Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Posty offered warm introductions to Jelly and Ferrell, praising the former as he delivered words of encouragement to attendees, “Anyone who's ever felt like an outcast or a bit of a fucking loser, I just want to say that you're not fucking alone. I had the opportunity to bring one of my favourite fucking heroes on tour. Welcome, Mr Jelly Roll”.
The duo combined for a spellbinding rendition of ‘Losers’, one of the many stellar collaborations from Post Malone's sprawling, eclectic debut country album, F-1Trillion.
Earlier in the evening, Jelly Roll impressed during his first ever stadium show, serving up soul-stirring renditions of anthems such as ‘Liar’, ‘Need a Favor’ and ‘Son of a Sinner’.
Elsewhere in Post Malone's hit-filled headline set, the ‘I Had Some Help’ chart-topper invited his other opening act, Sierra Ferrell, on-stage to perform their F-1Trillion duet, ‘Never Love You Again’. One of the hidden gems on that record, this traditional-leaning ballad showcases both Post and Ferrell's ability to transport listeners to a retro, sepia-tinged world as they croon forlornly across the yearning cry of steel.
As Post Malone has grown from arenas to stadiums over the past year, the genre-blending trailblazer has expanded his setlist accordingly. During his F-1Trillion run last year, the set revolved around Post's celebrated 2024 country body of work.
Now, while country music is still the cornerstone of his show, Post Malone has made room for a host of his earlier material, with the discography-spanning tour merch reflecting this.
Post Malone rattled through iconic earworms such as ‘Stay’, ‘White Iverson’, ‘Circles’ and ‘Better Now’, as well as treating the packed-out crowd to cult favourites from previous albums, such as AUSTIN's dramatic ‘Texas Tea’, Twelve Carat Toothache's deeply vulnerable ’Lemon Tree’ and Stoney's haunting ‘Feeling Whitney’.
The fact that Post Malone now calls Salt Lake City, Utah home gave this show an endearingly familial ambience, with Post looking more at ease than ever as he jubilantly danced his way through his set. He may have only recently graduated to selling out stadiums, but it feels like Post's unrivalled catalogue and charismatic, compelling stage presence have warranted this size of concert for a long time.
