Attendees at Bobby Bones’ 7th annual Million Dollar Show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium were treated to a special surprise, with Post Malone closing out the show with a two-song set.
The ‘Circles’ hitmaker was not on the initial line-up for the event, which benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but made an unexpected appearance for the grand finale.
He delivered a beautifully intricate rendition of his fan-favourite track, ‘Stay’, which appeared on Post Malone's celebrated 2018 project, beerbongs & bentleys.
Although beerbongs & bentleys was categorised as a Hip Hop album, ‘Stay’ showcased the New York native's longstanding penchant for acoustic, country-leaning flourishes, and the sparse offering has thankfully become a regular feature in his 2024 setlist.
In addition, the bearded crooner performed a stripped-back version of Hank Williams’ iconic track, ‘Honky Tonk Blues’. Alongside his trusty acoustic guitar and his solitary band-member, Posty demonstrated once again why the country music world is so excited about his decision to venture into the genre this year.
Post Malone is currently readying his debut country album, with the ‘Chemical’ singer-songwriter teasing an array of blockbuster collaborations in recent weeks, including the infectious ‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen and the playful ‘I Ain't Got A Guy For That’ with Luke Combs. Both are expected to be released soon.
Another previously shared snippet, ‘Missin’ You Like This’, is set to join both ‘I Had Some Help’ and ‘I Ain't Got A Guy For That’ on the momentous album, which seems destined to be one of the biggest releases of the year. After guesting on the HIXTAPE hit, ‘Pick-Up Man’, last year, Post Malone continued his foray into country music with a high profile feature on Beyoncé's ‘LEVII'S JEANS’, which formed part of the global megastar's widely lauded new album, COWBOY CARTER.
