Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's blockbuster collaboration, ‘I Had Some Help’, has debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Global 200, the latter of which factors in streaming and sales figures from more than 200 territories, including the US.
It marks Post Malone's sixth Hot 100 No. 1 - and his second this year, following the success of his Taylor Swift duet, ‘Fortnight’ - while Morgan picks up his second all-time Hot 100 chart-topper, his first being ‘Last Night’, which spent 16 weeks at No. 1.
While the star-power and sense of anticipation ahead of this momentous link-up undoubtedly helped propel ‘I Had Some Help’ to the peak of the charts, this doesn't take away from the fact that it's an irresistibly infectious earworm with an addictive melody.
Although Morgan Wallen and his team will be celebrating his second Hot 100 triumph in the space of just two years - with more likely to follow later this year, as he readies unreleased fan-favourites such as ’Lies, Lies, Lies’, ‘I Guess’ and ‘Love Somebody’ - the Sneedville singer-songwriter might well be more excited about reaching No. 1 on the Global 200, a chart-based accolade that had previously eluded him.
It's a sign that Morgan Wallen's unique sonic blend of country, pop, Hip-Hop and indie-rock is continuing to grow in popularity outside of the US. The ‘Thought You Should Know’ hitmaker will take his arsenal of hits across Europe towards the end of the summer, with Morgan also set to headline London's BST Hyde Park Festival 2024.
Post Malone is no stranger to the pinnacle of the Global 200 nor the Hot 100. Even so, the bearded crooner will be glad to see the first song from his forthcoming country album being met with such a unanimously positive response from fans.
Country and folk once again enjoy a formidable presence on both the Hot 100 and Global 200 charts this week. Aside from ‘I Had Some Help’, Shaboozey's ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, Benson Boone's ’Beautiful Things’ and Hozier's ‘Too Sweet’ all feature in the Top 10.
