Ahead of the release of his fifth studio album, Parker McCollum has been faithfully teasing what's to come from his first self-titled collection.

The latest taste arrives in the form of 'Big Sky', a stark new single seemingly about an existence spent with head in the clouds. For the last week, the artist has been sharing short snippets of the Tom Petty-esque tune, one driven by a carefree beat and weightless lyrics.

"Can't remember all the places I've been," the star croons against a jaunty groove, "I just wander through the wild, lookin' for a new friend / I just wander through the wild, lookin' for a new friend / I fly and I never land / It's a big sky, I'm a lonely man / If you're lookin' for me, just know that I'm free / And there ain't no telling where I might be."

With the latest teaser, McCollum revealed that 'Big Sky' will drop this Wednesday (May 7). The new single joins the previously released 'What Kinda Man' and 'Hope That I'm Enough', all set to appear on Parker McCollum on June 27.

The new album will apparently signal a return to the star's roots as he revisits the sound and style of his 2015 debut album, The Limestone Kid.

“I was 22 years old, and I wrote that record in my apartment in Austin," he recently shared with fans during a live performance. "I've put out three studio albums since that record - and everybody always says, ‘Man, love The Limestone Kid’. So this album that's coming out this summer, it's not The Limestone Kid, but it's probably as close as I'm ever going to get...You gotta listen top to bottom...I really hope you guys love it”.
