During his recent performance at Charleston's Credit One Stadium, Parker McCollum shed some light on what fans can expect from his keenly awaited new self-titled album.

In the months leading up to the project's announcement, the ‘Pretty Heart’ hitmaker has been teasing that his next musical chapter will see him returning to the aesthetic of his debut record, The Limestone Kid. Featuring alt-country instrumentation and an enchantingly rough-around-the-edges feel, the 2015 project is championed as a touchstone for Parker McCollum's discography by many loyal fans.

As the ‘Young Man's Blues’ crooner has veered towards what some perceive to be a more polished, Nashvillian sound on recent projects, such as Gold Chain Cowboy and Never Enough, he's found that calls for him to drop another record in the vein of The Limestone Kid have grown louder and louder with each passing year.

On June 27th, when Parker McCollum is released, it looks like these fans will finally get what they've been asking for. During his Charleston, South Carolina performance, McCollum took some time out to explain the impetus behind his forthcoming album.

The Texas native reflected, “I was 22 years old, and I wrote that record in my apartment in Austin...I've put out three studio albums since that record - and everybody always says, ‘Man, love The Limestone Kid’. So this album that's coming out this summer, it's not The Limestone Kid, but it's probably as close as I'm ever going to get...You gotta listen top to bottom...I really hope you guys love it”.

McCollum went on to express his gratitude to listeners that have been along for the ride, before underlining that his heart will always lie with classic country music, “Just wanna say thank y'all, for loving our country music. Since I was 16 years old I've been trying to write songs that could stand the test of time, and that could actually do something in country music and not just be a flash in the pan - and the poppy thing is not me, I just like real, old-school songwriter [country music]”.

Parker McCollum will include the recently released ‘Hope That I'm Enough’, which McCollum debuted during CRS earlier in the year, and ‘What Kinda Man‘. We're holding out hope that the beautifully intricate ’Big Ol’ Fancy House’, which the 2022 ACM New Male Artist of the Year winner performed for Holler last year, makes the cut.
