When William Beckmann saw that his good buddy, Parker McCollum, was FaceTiming him, he thought his fellow Texan just wanted to have a friendly chat and shoot the breeze.
But when Beckmann picked up, he soon found out that McCollum had a special invitation for him - one that every country artist fantasises about when they're starting out.
McCollum revealed to Beckmann that he'd be making his Grand Ole Opry debut on March 3.
In the heartwarming video of the country prospect receiving the news, McCollum reassures Beckmann and stresses that it is completely natural to feel nervous ahead of such a momentous occasion.
During the FaceTime call, McCollum goes on to admit that he couldn't bring himself to step into the hallowed Opry circle during soundcheck, and instead waited until the performance itself to do so.
Beckmann is considered one of the rising stars in country music, with the Del Rio native having gained a number of follows while on his 2022 Las Posadas Tour: Hope for Uvalde.
The ten shows, which Beckmann played across Texas, raised funds for the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation’s Uvalde Relief Fund, which is run by Matthew and Camila McConaughey.
Speaking about his upcoming Opry show, Beckmann emphasised what an honour it is to have been asked to step into the legendary circle, “Performing on the Grand Ole Opry stage is every country singer’s dream and I am beyond excited to finally have my chance to play there.
I grew up in a small town in Texas and have so many friends and family who will be coming to cheer me on. To feel the love and support from both the Opry and my hometown is something I am beyond grateful for”.
