Noah Kahan surprised his Queens, New York crowd with a special guest appearance from Aaron Dessner. Dessner emerged during Kahan's blockbuster Citi Fields show to play electric guitar on ’End of August’, a song the duo worked on together.

The song remains a fan-favourite from Kahan's widely lauded new album, The Great Divide, with ’End of August’ serving as the ethereal opening track on the folk-leaning project.

Dessner commented earlier in the week about how impressed he was by Kahan's bold decision to make ’End of August’ the first song on The Great Divide, especially given how it was a departure from the ‘Stick Season’ hitmaker's typical sound.

It therefore felt fitting that Dessner came out with Kahan to perform the enchanting offering in New York together, with much of The Great Divide as a whole being recorded at Dessner's famed 10-acre studio in Hudson Valley, New York, Long Pond.

Dessner's appearance with Kahan epitomised the super-producer's preferred role away from the spotlight, with the ‘Porch Light’ co-writer simply sauntering unassumingly onto the stage to deliver a spellbinding electric guitar solo during ‘End of August’.

Elsewhere during the performance, Kahan expressed how sorry he was at having to cancel the previous night's show in New York, due to inclement weather. The Vermont native made it clear that he and his team did everything they could to avoid cancelling, but that ultimately, it just wasn't possible and refunds had to be issued.

Kahan explained, “I just want to apologise for the cancellation of our show last night. And I know you guys are all here, but I don't expect any sympathy at all. I'm so f***ing sorry for the folks that stood all day out in the rain and travelled, I've been thinking about you guys. I'm really sorry...I've been touring for about nine years, I've probably played about 500 shows, and I've cancelled six in my life, and they've only ever been when we cannot do anything else but cancel the show. I promise you guys, I would play in...the hole of a volcano for y'all. I'm so sorry. I don't want any sympathy at all. I have sympathy for the folks that missed out. And I promise you we did everything, everything we could...I just feel horrible”.
