Muscadine Bloodline Reveal New Track 'Escatawpa Hollow' And The Story Behind It

The Muscadine Bloodline boys, Charley Muncaster and Gary Stanton, are back with new music. It’s been almost a year, but it seems the wait has been well worth it. A new track brings with it new characters and a new story, all intertwined with the band’s clever musicianship and nostalgic country-rock sound.

Teasing new music the last two weeks, the Alabama boys announced yesterday that their new track, ‘Escatawpa Hollow’, will be released on September 18th.

“We haven’t put out new music in almost a year but, we’ve been quietly writing, recording and creating the next chapter of Muscadine Bloodline,” the band shared on social media.

“We've taken our time, we’ve pushed our boundaries and we’re bringing you our very best. Buckle up, as we take yall on the wildest ride through South Mississippi and it all starts at this place on the AL/MS line called…”Escatawpa Hollow”.

Teaser videos for the new song have followed a Johnny Knoxville, redneck style of escapade, hitting the drop of the opening line with an extreme stunt, usually involving Gary as the victim. His dedication to the craft has seen him smashed with a water balloon, chased by Charlie on a quad bike and there was a paintball gun aimed in his direction which, as much as we love seeing what these two get up to, we’re hoping didn’t get triggered.

Sonically, the song hits perfectly for Muscadine Bloodline. It’s got that late 90s, early 00s punk rock undertone with their inimitable southern drawl and country flair, sitting somewhere between ‘Weyerhaeuser Land’ and ‘Me On You’. It’s that hit of nostalgia the boys are so well known for, creating their own lane in modern country music.

The best part, however, is that it is an extension of what Muscadine Bloodline does better than near everyone else: telling a story.

“‘Escatawpa Hollow’ is the campground on the Mississippi line,” the boys explain in their fan email announcing the new song. “As a kid, my parents brought me there. I have a lot of friends who do blue-collar work—two weeks on and two weeks off in the oil rigs. In the song, you could picture a girl who doesn't want her guy to leave for work. He goes reluctantly, and she finds love elsewhere.”

The track is out on September 18th and we’re hoping this is the start of a regular release of new music from Muscadine Bloodline.
