As confirmed when he revealed the full tracklist earlier in the week, Kane Brown's highly anticipated new album, The High Road, features an A-list cast from both country music and further afield, with Brad Paisley, Khalid, Jelly Roll and more set to feature.
However, what makes this even more exciting is the fact that Kane Brown has recruited a star-studded team of songwriters for The High Road too, with one particular track being penned by two of the biggest artists in the contemporary country music scene.
Kane Brown has recorded a duet with Brad Paisley, ‘Things We Quit’, and with Paisley involved, this is sure to be a neo-traditional, steel-soaked smash. As a result, listeners might be surprised to learn that two of the genre's more experimental, forward-facing artists are credited as songwriters on the track - Morgan Wallen and HARDY.
Although it's unclear when the track was crafted, Wallen and HARDY penned ’Things We Quit’ alongside two fellow Nashville songwriting titans, Josh Osborne and Jesse Frasure.
With 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year Morgan Wallen and country-rock enigma HARDY having a hand in the creation of ‘Things We Quit’, and with Brad Paisley lending his sinuous, signature vocals to the track, it's safe to say this is already shaping up to be one of the many stand-outs from Kane Brown's forthcoming record.
With Kane Brown having established himself as one of the biggest and most versatile artists in country music in recent years, we'd love to one day see a couple of full-blown collaborations between Brown, Wallen and HARDY. Each artists’ penchant for pushing the boundaries between genres would make this an electric combination.
In addition to ‘Things We Quit’, fans will be able to enjoy Kane Brown's previously teased collaboration with Jelly Roll, ‘Haunted’, which is due to be a powerful, rousing reflection on mental health, along with the Khalid-assisted ‘Rescue’. Thankfully, Brown is treating us to not one but two duets with his wife, Katelyn, following up the already-released, R&B-infused ‘Body Talk‘ with the brand new ‘Do Us Apart’.
We haven't even kicked off the New Year yet, but based on the lead singles and heavy-hitting feature-list, The High Road is being touted as a (very) early contender for 2025 Album of the Year. Kane Brown's latest record arrives everywhere on January 24th.
