After a quiet couple of weeks away from social media, Morgan Wallen is making up for lost time with a flurry of momentous announcements. The Sneedville singer-songwriter has added a second show at Knoxville's Neyland Stadium on September 20.
This follows the news of Morgan Wallen's concert at the iconic venue on September 22, with the ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ hitmaker extending his stay to two shows due to demand. Both will feature support from Morgan's close friends, HARDY and ERNEST.
This marks the first time in history that an artist will play two nights at Neyland Stadium, with the venue having welcomed stars such as Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and more.
Making this all the more special for Morgan Wallen is the fact that Neyland Stadium is located in his hometown of Knoxville, as well as being the home venue of his beloved Tennessee Volunteers football team. Morgan regularly sports their signature bright orange jersey when performing, as well as having penned a number of tracks inspired by the Vols, including ‘Tennessee Fan’ and ‘Had Me By Halftime’.
The two newly unveiled tour-stops will see over 150,000 fans descending on the Knoxville stadium, and there are already suggestions that Morgan Wallen may even attempt to break George Strait's outdoor concert attendance record, which he set back in June.
The ‘King’ of country music's Kyle Field show in College Station, Texas brought in a record-setting 110,905 fans, and Morgan could potentially exceed this if he adopts George Strait's ‘in the round’ stage style, which he utilised for his One Thing At A Time album launch at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena back in March 2023. Neyland Stadium's official capacity is 101,915, but if he places an ‘in the round’ stage in the centre of the field, this figure could possibly be extended beyond Strait's record.
Either way, both shows are set to be seismic events, and we're hoping Morgan Wallen follows up ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ with another new release or two ahead of the Neyland double-header, with fans clamouring for ’Love Somebody’ and ‘I Guess’ to drop.
