During her headlining Stagecoach performance Saturday night (April 27), Miranda Lambert tried 'Wranglers' on for size, giving fans in attendance a first taste of her forthcoming single.
However, that wasn't the only surprise the ‘Kerosene’ star had up her sleeve during the Indio, California country fest. The artist also recruited some assistance for her mega showcase, bringing the legendary Reba McEntire onstage for the big finish.
Together, they sang Lambert's hit 'Mama’s Broken Heart,' McEntire's classic cover of the Bobbie Gentry tune, 'Fancy,' as well as the headliner's early opus 'Gunpowder & Lead'.
"Thank you to my hero and friend for coming out here as my special guest," Lambert shared of the unforgettable moment on her Instagram. "I’ll never forget it. She brought all the fire."
'Wranglers' is set to officially arrive May 3. The artist has describe the track as “a tale of a woman taking her power back," adding, "I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life that we needed to find a way to find our strength and also get a little revenge on someone that did us wrong or hurt us.”
The tune will mark Lambert's first release since the move to her new label, Republic Records. The recent career step promises a new era for the star, one that will see her empowered and inspired.
“Having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me," she explains. "[‘Wranglers’] feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music.”
