It seems the rollout for Megan Moroney's forthcoming album is picking up pace, with the ‘Tennessee Orange’ hitmaker performing a brand new song out on the road, ‘Man on the Moon’.
During the first show of Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band's Sun Goes Down tour in Tampa, Florida, Megan Moroney - who is opening across a slew of Kenny and Zac's dates this summer - delivered a high-energy rendition of the unreleased track.
It finds the Georgia singer-songwriter stepping into familiar boots, as she playfully fantasises about sending her ex away via the analogy of putting another ‘Man on the Moon’.
Sonically and thematically, ‘Man on the Moon’ flows in the uptempo, tongue-in-cheek vein of the title-track from Moroney's lauded debut album, Lucky, as she jokes that she needs some distance from her lover, and she might just have a solution for him ( “He wants me / And he needs space / Someone take this cowboy away”).
‘Man on the Moon’ is expected to appear on the tracklist for Megan Moroney's Lucky follow-up, joining recently released singles ‘28th of June’ and ‘No Caller ID’.
However, before we get the studio version of ‘Man on the Moon’, we'll be able to enjoy another much-loved unreleased track, ‘Indifferent’, which drops on May 3rd. With Megan Moroney now gearing up for shows in North Carolina, California, Iowa, Minnesota and more over the next few weeks, we'll be keeping a close eye on her setlist to see if she surprises attendees with any more unreleased debuts.
