Megan Moroney has graced the stage on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for a powerful performance of ‘Break It Right Back’, which appeared on the country prodigy's widely celebrated Am I Okay? (I'll Be Fine) deluxe album towards the end of last year.
Moroney showcased the charisma and gravitas she always exudes during her live performances, with the ‘Tennessee Orange’ hitmaker giving the set a retro, 1950s-inspired feel.
Surrounded by candles and the ethereal cry of the steel guitar, Megan Moroney donned a shimmering, Marilyn Monroe-esque black dress as she doubled-down on the playfully nostalgic ambience of the staging. It felt as though Moroney could have been singing the sinuous ballad straight from a classic Hollywood film.
The track finds Megan Moroney consolidating her status as one of contemporary country's most open and striking lyricists, with the Georgia native addressing an ex that helped her to heal her heart from past despair, only to ‘Break It Right Back’.
Following the arrival of Am I Okay? (I'll Be Fine) last October, Moroney has been teasing an array of tantalising new tracks across her socials, with fans holding out hope that the ‘Indifferent’ singer-songwriter has more up her sleeve over the coming months.
Just last week, for instance, Megan Moroney debuted another evocative, bittersweet new offering during her performance at Nashville's iconic Bluebird Café alongside Ed Sheeran.
Regardless of when she's planning to launch the rollout for her highly anticipated third album, this stunning performance of ‘Break It Right Back’ serves as a reminder as to just how stellar her Am I Okay? era has been so far, with the popularity of this song confirming Megan Moroney's status as a future Entertainer of the Year.
