"Every good show needs an intermission," Maren Morris shared in a post on her Instagram alongside details of a forthcoming EP named for the theatrical pause.
Intermission, a five-song project set for release on August 2, arrives nearly a year after the 'My Church' star declared she would be separating herself from the country music genre. The artist spent much of 2023 and the early part of this year dropping a string of pop-leaning singles.
Whether the offerings on Intermission will be much of the same or of the country variety is not yet known, but the first taste of the release – 'cut!' featuring Julia Michaels – will arrive first thing Friday (June 21).
The artist is currently in the midst of her RSVP Redux tour, a repurposed string of North American dates that were originally slated for 2020 but delayed due the COVID-19 pandemic. The trek is scheduled to extend through September.
