Luke Bryan has now released his brand new single, ‘Southern and Slow’, on Friday, August 11.
‘Southern and Slow’ marks a noticeable change in pace compared to Luke Bryan's high-octane, party-starting previous single, ‘But I Got A Beer In My Hand’.
Although it doesn't pivot around the energising hook that glues together so many of Luke Bryan's biggest hits, ‘Southern and Slow’ nonetheless feels like it will quickly become another summer earworm.
Across a hazy, laid-back instrumental, the Georgia native paints a warm, cozy picture of rural living, underlining how he likes all his days at home to be unwaveringly ‘Southern and Slow’.
Often with these carefully cherry-picked lead singles, substance can be eschewed in favour of immediately catchy choruses and radio-friendly production.
However, this isn't the case with ‘Southern and Slow’, which seemingly aligns perfectly with Luke Bryan's current headspace. The country star recently shared that he was aiming to take things a little easier over the next year or so following a ‘rough year’. More recently, Bryan was forced to cancel a series of shows due to a persisting head cold.
‘Southern and Slow’ is expected to join ‘But I Got A Beer In My Hand’, ‘Country On’ and ‘Prayin’ In A Deer Stand’ on Luke Bryan's upcoming follow-up to 2021's Born Here Live Here Die Here (Deluxe), with fans hoping the new album will be dropping before the end of the year.
Shortly before unveiling the new single, Luke Bryan revealed his final run of shows at Las Vegas’ Resorts World, with six more dates added between December 2023 and January 2024.
