What a weekend it's been for Lainey Wilson.

Not only has the 'Watermelon Moonshine' singer-songwriter become the rightful recipient of the 2024 GRAMMY Award for Country Album of the Year, but she's been upfront and centre in mainstream popular culture for the past weekend, with various high-profile appearances and performances in the build-up to the big event.

The one that has really grabbed everyone's attention is her surprise appearance at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles.

Taking to the stage with British artist and producer Mark Ronson, the pair performed 'I'm Just Ken', the instantly memorable song from the 2023 Barbie movie, that was originally performed by one of the film's Hollywood stars, Ryan Gosling.

Sporting an incredible white western hat and all-white ensemble, the country star belted out the song to those in attendance, commanding the stage in front of an ensemble band including Ronson on electric guitar and a swelling chorus of violins.

The following night, Wilson was backstage at the GRAMMYs following her Country Album of the Year win for Bell Bottom Country. Discussing the impromptu performance with Billboard, Wilson said, "When Clive Davis asks you to go to a party, of course you're gonna say, ‘Yes’ - and then when you find out that's it's with Mark Ronson, you're definitely gonna say ‘Yes’!"

"I had just a few days to learn it, but it was so much fun", Lainey Wilson added, "It was stepping outside of my comfort zone, which I like to do - it was awesome".

Wilson's performance of the Barbie favourite wasn't the only viral moment she created that's been grabbing people's attention this weekend. At Spotify's Best New Artist party, which celebrates all the nominees of the coveted award, Wilson joined her good buddy and collaborator, Jelly Roll, to perform their chart-topping duet, 'Save Me'.

It's safe to say Lainey Wilson has not only made country her own, but is making popular culture en masse sit up and pay attention to her distinctive brand of Bell Bottom Country.
