As part of Marty Stuart's Congress of Country Music ongoing public art initiative, a mural has been painted in downtown Mississippi in honor of country music star Lainey Wilson.

The mural, named "Wildflowers and Wildhorses" after Wilson's hit 2022 single, stretches across a brick wall in downtown Philadelphia, Mississippi. The artist, A'Darrius Hanible, took inspiration after the song as he painted horses running along a light blue sky with bright flowers wrapped all in between, as a wolf looks above, howling. The mural captures Wilson's free-spirited nature both in personality, and her music.

Wilson joined country musician and Congress of Country Music leader Marty Stuart, to unveil the piece and give thanks to the local community.

"I brought some of my Mississippi friends along for a little picking and grinning, and that's exactly what I want tonight to be about. A chance to step away from the craziness of everyday life, come together and celebrate the heart of country music. At the end of the day, country music is about storytelling, and there's nothing better than sharing those stories with good people," said Wilson.

The piece did exactly what art, and what country music does: bring people together. The initiative behind Marty Stuart's Congress of Country Music is to give country music a focal point; an environment of pure appreciation and a place to be reminded of the roots of a genre that is only growing in popularity.

It's the art contributions, musical performances, and events hosted by the Congress of Country Music that cement the spirit of the genre in the community, creating the warm, welcoming environment Wilson said she experienced upon her visit.

In turn, the 'Somewhere Over Laredo' songstress brought the sentiment of country music to the unveiling herself, which of course is no surprise, as Wilson has been known to be a true pillar of the country music community no matter where she goes.

"She knows that no matter how far life takes you or how high your dreams carry you, nothing can replace the people and places that shaped who you are," said Stuart.

Wilson's "Wildflowers and Wildhorses" mural isn't the only project the "spiritual home of country music" has unveiled to honor those who've contributed to the genre, other murals include Chris Stapleton's "Broken Halos" piece, which Stapleton attended the unveiling of on April 12, 2025, after honoring late first responders with a live performance at the Congress of Country Music.

Other pieces have been created in honor of late country legends such as Glen Campbell, Bob Ferguson, and Dolly Parton. Through every mural stretching across the buildings of downtown Mississippi, a story is told of the artist behind it, capturing the essence of what it means to be a part of the country music community.
